RIZIN 37 The card, which will take place on July 31 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, has announced several new matchups, a day after it was officially unveiled. Among them are several battles at the Super Atomweight Grand Prix, in which women will compete in an eight-woman tournament.
The semi-final matches will take place in September, with the final round on New Year’s Eve. Unlike other RIZIN grand prize tournaments, this event will end in two one-night format fights.

RIZIN 37 Among the participating fighters are former WSOF champion and UFC alumnus Jessica Aguilar (20-9). The 40-year-old Mexican, once considered the best strawweight fighter on the planet, has struggled during his tenure in the UFC and hasn’t competed since November 2020, when he lost a split decision against Daniel Taylor at XFC 43.

RIZIN 37 The organization issued its press release Thursday morning confirming the 15-fight slate for Rizin 37. This July 31 fight card will be posted inside the iconic Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, and will feature the opening rounds of her first female fight. Atomweight tournament since 2017.
A few matchups have been added, including Marcos Yoshio Souza Vs. Daiichi Abe at a catchweight of 176 pounds, while Sora Yamamoto will also replace Rikuto Shirakawa in the event against Wugar Karamov.
While most of the event had already been held in early July, the entirety of the 2022 Super Atomweight Grand Prix, as a promotional title, is on the books.
If billing continues in this sequence, it will begin with a fight undefeated when division champion Seika Izawa (6-0) takes on María Laura Alves Fontaura (7-0). After that match, former champion Ayaka Hamasaki (23–5) will face WMMA trailblazer Jessica Aguilar (20–9). RIZIN 37 The RIZIN Fighting Federation returns on July 31 with the Atomweight Grand Prix as an attraction at the Saitama Super Arena, and the tournament features UFC and Bellator veteran Jessica Aguilar.
A former WSOF champion, Aguilar returns to action nearly two years after her most recent fight, a split decision defeat at XFC to Daniel Taylor to face Ayaka Hamasaki.
Aguilar looks to bounce back from rough patches in the UFC including losses to Zhang Weili and Marina Rodriguez. Hamasaki, a former RIZIN Champion, enters the ring on a two-fight winning streak with a consecutive win over Seika Izawa.

RIZIN 37 Division champion Izawa is also set to face undefeated Brazilian Laura Fontaura in the tournament. Other quarterfinalists include Kanna Asakura against Si Wu Park and Rena Kubota against Anastasia Shvetkiewska.
The latest addition to the card is Marcos Souza, brother of RIZIN Lightweight Champion Roberto Satoshi, who returns to MMA two and a half years after an 87-second knockout at RIZIN to fight UFC and ONE legend Daichi Abe.
Laura Fontaura joins the show for the first time, before her promotional and divisional debut will also take place. The undefeated Brazilian submission artist (7-0) has the toughest test of all the contestants, taking on defending champion Seka Izawa in the main event of RIZIN 37.
Izawa is well aware of the target on his back at the Grand Prix but has made it clear after his previous victory that this is what he wanted.
Kanna Asakura and Si Wu Park then uncovered their previous training sessions together as they discussed their fight before a familiar rival, Rina Kubota, closed the show. Kubota and Asakura are the only two fighters to have fought at the first RIZIN Super Atomweight Grand Prix in 2017.
