MLB All-Star Game Brian Snitker, Manager of World Series defending champion Atlanta Braves, will lead the National League club, which is aiming to win eight consecutive American League titles. Houston Astros captain Dusty Baker has handled the All-Star game for a second time. Baker managed the National League in 2003 after taking the San Francisco Giants to the 2002 World Series where he was manager of the Chicago Cubs that season. For the first time in history, an All-Star game manager was not a manager who participated in the World Series last year.
On the mound, Dodgers icon Clayton Kershaw starts his NL club at his home stadium. He will be the first pitcher at home since Max Scherzer won the NL ball at Nationals Park in 2018. Rays left-hander Shane McClanahan picked up the AL team ball in place of Angels star Shohei Ohtani. McClanahan deserved his first mission, but Kershaw and Otani. It would be fun. It’s unclear whether Otani, who has never played in a major league by patronage, will play in the All-Star game.
