The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to hold all the matches of IPL 2022 in India. Board president Sourav Ganguly said the league round would be played in Mumbai and Pune, two cities in Maharashtra. The playoffs and final venue will be decided later.
In addition, Ganguly has promised to hold the Women’s Twenty20 Challenge (Women’s IPL) in the middle of the regular IPL this year. The women’s IPL match will be held in May.
The women’s IPL 2022 will be held this year
Sourav Ganguly has also given a big update on women’s IPL. “In May this year, there will be another women’s T20 challenge,” she said. Hopefully in the future we will be able to host a bigger women’s IPL, but this year’s Women’s T20 Challenge will definitely be held during the IPL play-offs.
There are 3 teams participating in the women’s IPL. Supernova, Velocity and Trail Blazer. So far this tournament has been played only 3 times. The Supernovas in 2018 and 19 and the Trail Blazers in 2020 won the title. This tournament was not possible due to Corona last year.

Ganguly said that given the current situation, the board has decided to hold the match in India. He said efforts could be made to organize events outside the country only when the corona gets out of control.
There are three stadiums in Mumbai
With the matches in Mumbai and Pune, the teams do not have to move much. There are three stadiums in Mumbai, namely Wankhede, DY Patil and Brabourne. There is a stadium in Pune. Teams can also go to the venue by bus. Teams from the UAE did the same and traveled by bus between Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
74 matches out of 10 teams
Two teams will grow in the IPL this season. Ahmedabad and Lucknow will be the new teams in the franchise league. This will increase the number of matches from 60 to 74.
The tournament could start on March 27,
The date of the tournament has not been announced yet, but the BCCI has told all franchise owners that it is considering starting the tournament from March 27. “I am happy to confirm that the 15th edition of the IPL will start in the last week of March and will continue till the end of May,” BCCI secretary Joy Shah said in a statement.

In 2021, the 14th edition of the IPL was first held in India, but the tournament had to be stopped midway after 29 matches, after many players were affected by the corona. Subsequently, the remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 were played in the UAE in September-October. Earlier, the entire IPL season 2020 was also hosted by the United Arab Emirates. This time BCCI does not want to do that.
